What To Expect
When you call to make your appointment, I will ask for your insurance information if you have insurance that will pay for acupuncture treatments. I will call the company to find out what your benefits, if any, are. On your first visit, there are forms to fill out which are available to download and to fill out beforehand.
It is advisable to wear loose and comfortable clothing for the treatment so that the shoulders, arms, and legs are accessible. It is also advisable not to have an empty stomach and be hungry because in the course of treatment, we are moving and balancing the body’s energy. Our main source of energy is from the food and liquids we take in.
Only single use needles are used and then disposed of in a sharps container. Most needle insertions are painless with an occasional prick or achey sensation felt.
The treatment setting is very quiet with soft music and lighting. Acupuncture naturally relaxes and harmonizes the body. Most people comment on how relaxed they feel after the treatment.
Moxibustion ( deep heat), tuina massage, cupping, TDP lamp heat, guasha, electroacupuncture and qigong are additional modalities that enhance the treatment. Nutritional counseling, herbal remedies, supplements and essential oils also enhance the outcome of your treatments.
